Description Of the Events

Human Interaction Lab - Focuses on interpersonal communication and awareness of self in a group. Through a variety of experiential activities, participants will look at what goes on in the life of a group and learn more about the effect of their own participation. The aim is to increase  skills in the leadership functions which maintain and enhance the life of a group and help it in accomplishing its tasks. The primary method used is the T-Group. The Human Interaction Lab is the required prerequisite training for most other LTI events.

                 LTI PURPOSE

To enable  leaders to function more effectively in their work with organizations and groups; to improve their competence for working with others, facilitating teams, and designing meetings, educational events and programs.

Commitment - Competency - Emotional Maturity

The LABORATORY METHOD of learning is used in all LTI programs. Lab Learning involves reflection on  immediate here-and-now experiences within the learning community, interpreted through applied behavioral science theory and practice.  Events may also include presentations on related theory; skill training; the use of instruments; the preparation of implementation projects for the back-home situation; and other learning tools.

LABORATORY TRAINING IS NOT A PASSIVE ACTIVITY!   Participants will be involved at every stage in activities which will test their abilities and challenge their self-understandings. These activities involve a certain amount of stress. It is not, therefore, advisable for persons to participate who are living in the midst of unusual stress in their personal or professional lives.

Each lab will begin after breakfast on Monday and continue through lunch on Friday. The interactive character of the training experience makes it essential that participants arrive by Sunday evening, and participate in all scheduled sessions throughout the week.

Worship - All LTI labs provide the opportunity to participate in worship in the Episcopal Church's tradition. All are welcome, no participant is expected to participate as part of the program.

Reflection Opportunities - Labs provide some opportunity to reflect on the relationship between what you are learning and your theological, philosophical or value tradition. This is part of the program. This also provides an opportunity to make use of skills learned in the lab in a conversation that includes people from various traditions.

LTI staff are lay and ordained Episcopalians who will be responsible for organizing daily worship in which all are welcome to participate. LTI encourages reflection on group and organizational experience in light of participants' values and beliefs.  The laboratory setting allows practice in communication among people of different faiths and backgrounds as well as people who have no religious affiliation or interest.  LTI staff will support an atmosphere of ecumenical openness, tolerance and respect for difference

Registration for the 2003 - 04 Cycle

Our commitment is to provide the lowest cost possible so it may serve the church, non-profit-organizations and small businesses. We are currently offering this training at about 20 - 25% of what would be the expected cost in other training systems. Our expectation is that our fees will increase, possibly doubling, in future years. This will still allow us to offer training at half the cost common in the training field.
